Disruption
In today’s modern demanding world disruption to the surrounding environment can have a great impact on developing infrastructure in various sectors; Trenchless Civil engineering techniques allow clients to construct their project causing minimal disruption by allowing roads to remain operational and services to function as normal without having to divert or suspend routes. Trenchless technology typically has many advantages over conventional construction techniques such as open cut, which can require the surfaces such as footpaths to be reinstated ,the removal of trees, trenching the ground, or knocking down structures that may lie in the path of the infrastructure required.. Other factors that should be considered are the social and environmental disruption that can also come into play and have adverse effects on the community, business, and commuters due to undesirable pollution and traffic disruption. Trenchless Technologies have the capability to repair, upgrade, replace, or install underground infrastructure systems with minimum surface disruption and offer a viable alternative to existing methods such as open-cut. When choosing to build infrastructure it is important to consider and compare direct, social, and environmental costs associated with underground construction compared with more conventional construction techniques. It is important that decision makers consider combining these costs with direct capital costs so that the best alternative is selected, which in certain cases can make trenchless technology the most economical alternative. Moreover, productivity, workers’ safety, and structural issues have shown that trenchless technology is a more efficient method for underground infrastructure systems.
