The environmental benefits of using Trenchless techniques compared with traditional techniques are many. The comparison with conventional techniques such as open cut for pipeline installations has benefits that are easy to quantify; less excavated material as its only the pipe volume plus the annulus (dependant on the technique) that is excavated along with the access or launch shaft and the retrieval shaft, means less spoil and arisings to be handled or delivered to an appropriate disposal site.  A smaller footprint for pipeline installations requiring less way leave and compulsory land purchase orders.  Less disruption to the surrounding environment allowing.
